Rich is committed to making you a better athlete. He is sensitive to the needs of each individual athlete and is masterful at fine tuning the work-recovery ratios at a detail level (within a workout) and a long term (lifestyle) level, while keeping in mind the context (competitive season, history of injury or training) of the work that is required.

The art of coaching involves being creative in program planning, exercise combinations, and adding the element of innovative games to add FUN and team building.  The technical skills of coaching involve being observant of each individual, planning the program loads and techniques.

Rich has a unique perspective to be able to apply both the art of coaching and the technical aspects of coaching. As an athlete, Rich chose to compete in the combined events of Decathlon: 10 running, jumping and throwing events over a  grueling and unpredictable 2-day competition.

As a 100m Sprinter earns the title of “World’s Fastest Man”, the top Decathlete earns the title of “World’s Greatest Athlete” for the ability to be able to demonstrate overall excellence.  What’s even more impressive is that Decathletes take an average of 10 years to “reach their peak”.  Being in this sport taught Rich to set goals, be focused, be extremely disciplined and consistent, be patient, and to do the little things that make a difference in the long term.

He passionately brings these talents and skills to his style of coaching and teaches his athletes to add these elements of athleticism to their lives.

Rich also shares his experience and knowledge as a dynamic Speaker for radio interviews, graduation ceremonies, and events for audiences which range in size up to 3500 attendees. Rich has been seen on a fitness spot, on Calgary television, on a regular basis since 1992.
